What does the purchase include?
The $299.99 USD price includes a complete TI-84 Plus CE calculator with TI84AI hardware and software installed. You connect it to Wi-Fi and add your own OpenAI API key. OpenAI usage is billed separately to your account. Shipping availability and charges will be confirmed before orders open.
Do I need to supply my own calculator?
No. Your purchase includes a TI-84 Plus CE with TI84AI installed. The current software targets OS 5.8.4; support for other calculator models and OS versions is not confirmed.
Do I need my own OpenAI account?
Yes. You create and manage your own OpenAI API key and billing. Enter the key on the device’s local setup page. OpenAI usage is billed separately from the TI84AI purchase price; this website does not collect your API key.
Can it work without internet?
AI questions need a Wi-Fi connection with internet access. TI84AI sends the question to OpenAI and returns the response to the calculator. It does not run the AI model locally.
I can’t find the TI84-Setup network.
Power on the calculator and module. From the helper, press ZOOM for Settings, then 4 to turn the setup hotspot on. A fresh installation also starts the hotspot when no Wi-Fi network is saved. If your setup network was renamed, use that saved name.
My phone says the setup network has no internet.
That can be normal: the hotspot connects you to the device’s settings. Stay connected and type http://192.168.4.1 in the browser address bar. Avoid letting your phone automatically switch to another Wi-Fi network during setup.
The key is saved, but my question fails.
A saved key does not prove a successful API connection. Check WIFI and NET, then the error message. BADKEY means OpenAI rejected the key; create a replacement and save it. For billing or quota errors, check the organization that owns your key in the OpenAI API Platform. Also confirm your selected model is available to that project.
Why does the program open a game?
The current calculator app is named PONG and opens in Pong. Press MODE to switch to the helper. If USB fails to initialize, the helper is unavailable; check the module’s TI USB mode, disconnect the external computer cable, and relaunch.
Where do I enter my API key?
Only on your device’s local configuration page, normally http://192.168.4.1 while connected to its setup network. Never send it to support. If you accidentally share a key, revoke it in the OpenAI API Platform and create a replacement.
Does the camera work on every device?
Photo questions require camera-equipped hardware and a model that accepts image input. The app can still send typed questions when no camera is present. In the editor, TRACE captures a photo and STAT previews it before you send.
Can I use it in an exam?
Do not assume that a calculator with AI or connectivity is permitted. Follow the rules of your instructor, school, and exam provider. TI84AI is intended to help you understand and practice, and AI answers should always be checked.
